We use a 'plane detection' system when placing assets onto the floor, and don't set asset placement to 0.00 on the Y axis by default for multiple reasons:
- Each floor on the model has a different axis point in the entire Virtual Tour (eg. Basement could be 0.00, Level 1 could be 3.00 and Level 2 could be 6.00).
- If the floor of the model in question isn't completely even (or there are existing objects in the model), it can cause the mesh of the model to be slightly different. It would cause issues if all the assets are set to default Y axis 0.00.
- If the models mesh has holes inside it, this can also cause issues with accurate plane detection. Some assets may look to be 'floating' due to a possible hole in the mesh or mesh clashes with objects in the model.
- If we were to set all assets to a default 0.00 on the Y axis this would mean assets placed on different levels throughout the model would be placed on the floor below or above where you are wanting to virtually stage your assets.
