Virtual Tour Overlays: Layouts

Virtual Tour Overlays are a fantastic way to generate polished, easy-to-navigate tours for your clients. This article will show you how to use our supplied Overlay templates, and how to create custom templates from inside your Creator Studio.

Finding the ‘Layout’ section

This is located under the Overlay tab, in the left-hand side panel. It should look like this:

Selecting a template

There are a number of ready-made templates you can select, with a variety of banner, logo and menu options. 

Start by choosing a client from the Select client dropdown menu. You can also create a new client profile if you wish. Then choose a template from the supplied list.

Finally, don’t forget to click Publish in the top right-hand corner to save your changes. 

Custom templates

From the Overlay tab, you can also create custom templates based on different clients' needs. 

1. Switch to Custom in the left-hand side menu
   
   
   
   
2. Click Create new next to the ‘Search templates’ field to open the template builder
   
   
   
   
3. Name your template something distinct and easy to find later
4. Once you’re inside the template builder, it should look like this:
   
   
   
   
5. Begin by selecting one of the supplied templates in the left-hand side menu. This is just a starting point for your custom template.
6. Adjust your choice of Banner, Logo and Menu from the right-hand side panel. Simply click the item you want to adjust and make changes to the Location or Style under ‘properties’. You can also choose to toggle the item on / off.
   
   
   
   
7. Once you’re happy with your template, click Save template in the top right-hand corner and then Exit in the top left-hand corner

Assign a template to a new client

1. Click Create new next to the Select client dropdown menu
   
   
   
   
2. Add your client’s information, website URL, logo and brand colours
   
   
   
   
3. Then under the Virtual Tour Template dropdown menu, select your custom template
   
   
   
   
4. Click Save in the bottom right-hand corner

This means that every time you create a virtual tour for that client, your custom template will be automatically applied!

Assign a template to an existing client

This currently needs to be done outside your Creator Studio. Here’s how it works:

1. From your main dashboard, click the Client tab from the left-hand side navigation
   
   
   
   
2. Choose a client from your list and click Edit on that client profile
   
   
   
   
3. Select your custom template from the Virtual Tour Template dropdown menu
   
   
   
   
4. Click Save in the bottom right-hand corner
